SATs

  Hello Visitor,

You might be aware that Key Stage 1 Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) are no longer compulsory. However, as a school, we have decided that we will still continue to complete SATs this year to support teacher judgement.

If you would like more information about SATs, please visit:
Information for parents: optional national curriculum tests at the end of key stage 1 from 2024 (publishing.service.gov.uk)

We refer to the SATs as ‘quizzes’ and make them as non-pressured as a usual school day would be. The children are used to completing similar activities within school.

We will continue to send out our regular reading comprehension for children to complete at home. In addition, we will also be sending out maths activities for your children to complete and return to their teachers. If you would like to see examples of previous SATs papers, these are readily available online on websites such as:
National curriculum assessments: practice materials - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

White Rose 1 minute Maths App is a handy (free) app to practise a range of maths skills at home.

If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 2 team

Higham Ferrers Nursery & Infant School
