Our Summer term started spectacularly with our 'Wow Day,' introducing our new topic, Africa. The children got to take part in African drumming and dancing. The children thoroughly enjoyed this and so did the adults. The children also had an opportunity to design and make their own adire cloth patterns. Other highlights of last half term were, the children making their own African masks which they made using paper mache, the children really enjoyed getting messy. In English, the children we read 'Meerkat Mail', where they met Sunny the Meerkat, who wanted to find his perfect home. The children wrote letters, fact files and instructions all based on helping Sunny understand animals he had never seen and food he had never tasted before. The children enjoyed meeting Sunny and seemed to really engage with this excellent text. The children are now looking forward to their new topic Lion King with the extra special 'Wow Day' at the end of the year, seeing the Lion King Production.
